Executive Director of Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s International Studies Program, Dr. John Tirman was featured in LancasterOnline yesterday. Tirman will address members of the community during two upcoming speeches at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren and Franklin & Marshall College, March 4-5. The two-day event is co-sponsored by Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness and the International Studies program at F&M.
According the Earle Cornelius, Staff Writer at LancasterOnline, Tirman’s recent book, “The Deaths of Others: The Fate of Civilians and their Cultures in America’s Wars,” addresses the U.S. capacity during wars recent wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“I’ll be mainly speaking about the topics I raise in my book, ‘The Deaths of Others,’ which takes up the human costs of war and specifically … the four major wars the U.S. has fought since 1945 … and how little attention to the consequences of civilian casualties,” said Tirman.
