Square Dance for Refugees, Immigrants, and Veterans
June 11, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join CWS-Lancaster at Tellus360, 24 East King Street, Lancaster, Pa 17602 on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM for a community square dance!
Tellus360, Lancaster Stands Up and local community member, Paul Harnik, are hosting a square dance in support of Lancaster’s refugees, immigrants, and veterans. Lancaster has proclaimed with open hearts and minds that all who enter our community are welcome– regardless of race, religion, nationality, political opinions, or membership in a social group. We stand tall and strong beside our refugee, immigrant and veteran neighbors—because in this town, we are equal and deserve the chance of hope and freedom in our lives.
Please join us at Tellus360, 24 East King Street, Lancaster on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM as we dance, raise awareness and show solidarity with our community– all while raising funds for organizations serving newcomers and veterans in Lancaster County. Event page found here.
Music will be performed by the old-time Appalachian band, The Vacutones. A four-piece string band from Maryland, The Vacutones play songs and tunes from throughout the South and Midwest, music learned from 78rpm records and archival recordings. Kate Brett is on banjo, Kevin Enoch on banjo-uke and bass, Bill Schmidt on fiddle, and Ann Porcella guitar.
