Why do the LIPW board members get involved, and stay committed to the peace minded work we do?
From Board Member, LAIG Committee Facilitator, Ken Trauger:
I’m involved in LIPW after living in war times as a civilian Christian in Honduras in 1969, in Nicaragua in the mid 80s and in Colombia in the mid 2000s. Civilian people including many children, women and elderly had bodily injuries, lost homes and lands, agonized over disappeared family members and other innocent sufferings.
There I met migrants looking for safety of life, often seeking a connected church and moving from persecutions by armies. To love others as Christ, a church must include stopping the damage to others. Justice people stop wars and all violence upon any and all human beings. They even change unjust harmful laws, such as no military aid for war. LIPW is the best church group in town to have insight about real evils, to work for the changes and to stop harm on others.
