The enclosed should be in the newspaper in some form and/or your article. I was present at the rally in Harrisburg on May 16, 2016, held in the Capitol Rotunda. Approximately 700 people came out to demand background checks for the sale of every gun and the passage of HB 1010 in the House and SB 1049 in the Senate. Let it be clear, this initiative in no way interferes with the use of firearms for hunting and recreational purposes.
The failure to curtail the senseless homicides and suicides by firearms can be placed on the conscience of State and National legislators. The repeated mantra “guns do not kill people, people do” is irresponsible and nonsensical. A person standing on a high ridge shooting into a shopping mall cannot do it unless that person has a long gun. The current policies are obviously not working. All people with diverse views should be negotiating in a spirit of good will instead of stonewalling and intimidating with ideological positions.
This issue is not given adequate visibility in the LNP.
Sincerely,
Urbane Peachey
