With recent events, what is life in Cuba today?
Manolo de los Santos was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in New York City. He holds dual citizenship, D.R. and U.S. He is a student at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Matanzas, Cuba and spends most of the year in Cuba. He spends summers in New York working on the Cuba Friendshipment Caravan, a project of Pastors for Peace.
What is a Caravan?
The largest caravan – to Cuba – has 14 separate routes. Often the vehicles are brightly painted school buses, but they also donate trucks, ambulances, mobile libraries, and cars ALL PACKED with life-saving humanitarian aid donated by the people of the US, Mexico and Canada to the people of Cuba. http://ifconews.org/cuba-caravan/
Pastors for Peace is a special ministry of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization, and was created in 1988 to pioneer the delivery of humanitarian aid to Latin America and the Caribbean. In 1992 Pastors for Peace began organizing Friendshipment caravans to Cuba. They invite you to learn more about the reality of Cuba, to dispel common myths portrayed by the US media, interact with Cuban people and experience the way of life in Cuba.
