Peace Vigil to Commemorate Hiroshima & Nagasaki
August 5, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
When: THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 5
Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Where: Steps of the Lancaster Courthouse
Join The Peace Action Network at the silent peace vigil to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima (August 6) and Nagasaki (August 9). The U.S. is the only nation ever to use nuclear weapons. As a result, 129,000 people perished.
Tensions between the U.S., Russia and North Korea are rising. Rep. Lloyd Smucker just voted to increase sanctions against Russia, Iran, and North Korea. The Congress, Pentagon, and White House are united in their aggressive stance toward our “adversaries.”
We’re turning away from diplomatic solutions and doubling down with demonstrations of our military might. 122 nations and the UN recently endorsed a Treaty to Ban Nuclear Weapons. The U.S. didn’t even join the talks.
